Which tourist building is the most worth seeing in Shanghai (the most anticipated literary and artistic landmark of the year in Shanghai)
Among the categories of public buildings in the city, performance architecture may be the closest expresser to other art categories - on one side are the performers' ultimate demands for space, light and shadow, sound, images, etc., and on the other side are the audiences who hope to obtain the best sensory experience. As a container that connects the two, the performance building often needs to transform into a "magic box" within a limited time and space to create dreams for the audience. As a part of the urban landscape, it needs to be friendly and open, using architectural language to reduce people’s stereotype of art being “shelved on the shelf”.
Recently, Snøhetta, an architectural firm headquartered in Oslo, Norway, won a global competition and became the designer of the Shanghai Grand Opera House project in China. It will be jointly responsible for the overall project with the East China Architectural Design and Research Institute (ECADI), including architecture, interior, landscape and brand graphic design.
As one of the most important cultural landmarks in Shanghai during the 13th Five-Year Plan period, the brand-new Shanghai Grand Opera House is located on the back beach of the World Expo, close to the bank of the Huangpu River. The ecological and low-carbon environment of the Houtan area also to some extent indicates the openness of the Grand Opera House. The surrounding landscape layout and the overall geometric shape of the building jointly construct the core landscape of the entire area.
The overall shape of the Shanghai Grand Opera House was inspired by the agile figures of musical actors, and based on the fan shape and spiral structure, the overall structure was laid. The roof unfolds like a fan and is connected to the ground. City residents can freely walk towards the building surface, and can also enter the theater space under the roof through the entrance.
